According to CBS, some of the lyrics to the Robin Williams Oscar’s song that ABC censored were:
“Pinocchio’s had his nose done! Sleeping Beauty is popping pills! The Three Little Pigs ain’t kosher! Betty Boop works Beverly Hills!”
“Fred Flintstone is dyslexic, Jessica Rabbit is really a man, Olive Oyl is really anorexic, and Casper is in the Ku Klux Klan!”
“Chip ‘n Dale are both strippers,”
“Bugs Bunny’s a sexaholic,”
“Josie and the Pussycats dance on laps.”
“The Road Runner’s hooked on speed”
“Pocahontas is addicted to craps”
The song was co-written by Marc Shaiman who did some of the songs for the South Park movie. It probably would have been the best part of the Oscars (for whatever that is worth), had it not been censored.
As posted earlier, the song was going to make fun of the right wing religious extremists who have tried to push censorship on American books, television, radio, movies, games, internet, and arts lately. ABC was apparently afraid to offend the millions of religious extremists who tune into the Oscars ever year (who knew?), so they banned the skit. Maybe next year they will ban “R” rated movies from being nominated, just in case some extremist might be offended by boobies in an “R” rated film.
If more Americans would refuse to watch crappy censored television shows, maybe the networks would get some balls and stand up to the extremists trying to ban free speech in America. How boring would art and media be if these anti-freedom nuts had final say over everything you read, watched, or heard? Even more boring than this year’s Oscars.
